Biography /Bertrand Barrère

Bertrand Barrère, born in 1981, is interested in different domains of research, as his double career path shows. He first studied history, looking into the historical scale games applied to a universal social fact (“Images de vies, images de morts: le prisme testamentaire”, under the direction of Josette Pontet, Bordeaux, 2003), then at the limits of the historical sources of the 17th century (“Conflit et quotidienneté à Bordeaux au XVIIIe siècle: vers un expérience limite en histoire sociale?”, DEA under the direction of Josette Pontet, Bordeaux, 2004). He finished his studies in history in 2004 to start a musical and aesthetical reflection (“Entre strié et lisse : récits historiques et récits musicaux. Une première réflexion épistémologique sur la musique contemporaine”, (under the direction de Marie-Bernadette Duffourcet-Hakim and Stéphane de Gérando, Bordeaux, 2005) that he continues in at the University of Paris in Panthéon-Sorbonne under the direction of Costin Miereanu. He is also involved in pop and electronic music projects.
